Methods

Exterior Cleans;

  • Wheels are sprayed with a wheel cleaner, allowed to dwell then rinsed with 0 contact. Then I apply a snow foam before rinsing, I then go back with a contact wash where I start with the arches and tyres. This is done with a separate brush, I then cleaned the face of the wheel with soap and a delicate brush. Finally the wheel barrel is cleaned with a wheel barrel brush. This is done last to prevent any debris inside the wheel moving to the wheel faces. This is then rinsed. During the process the brushes and sponges are rinsed regularly. The bucket also has a grit guard where most residue / contaminants is kept separate to the water. Once complete the bucket is emptied. (The equipment used to clean the wheels doesn’t go anywhere near the paint)
  • 3 Bucket method (Wheels, Clean water, dirty water)
  • When doing the bodywork I use a pre rinse which is sprayed onto the car, then allowed to sit for around 2-3 minutes before being rinsed. Next I spray the car in snow foam, this is used to remove as much grit, Road grime and contaminants as possible. This sits on the paint again for a few minutes before being rinsed.
  • Then the contact wash begins where I start from the roof working down the car working from left to right. From roof, windows, doors and lower areas of the car being done last. The wash mitt goes from left to right on each panel to reduce swirls rather than working in round circular motions where more swirls can occur.  After each panel the wash mitt is rinsed in the rinse bucket / grit guard before going back to the clean / soapy water bucket where the process is repeated.
  • Next the car is sprayEd down, again starting at the roof and working down the car.
  • After this the car is blow down with a car dryer, this gets water out of the hard to reach places. Due to the car being ceramic coated the water also falls off the paint much easier.
  • Once this is done and excess water is dried off with a clean drying towel. (These get washed and cleaned daily and is usually one per car)
  • Then finishing touches like glass cleaner is applied with a micro fibre and the tyres are finished with a rubber dressing.
  • *Whilst every effort is made to reduce swirls and scratches by following the correct process it is impossible to prevent with a ‘Contact Wash’
